A little trip

We met Patrick & Melissa at Lake Havasu, AZ this past Thursday for a day of fun & sun on a pontoon boat. They were in Phoenix for a little trip, so we got together for the day. It was wonderful to see them, but the water was FREEZING!! We didn't swim or tube, but enjoyed the day on the boat & the beach. The boys had a great time playing with their sand toys on the beach at the lake. We all got a little sun. It was windy & we didn't notice the sun was as hot as it was. Sunburns for all! We only got to spend a short time with them & after dinner they left to go back to Phoenix. We drove to San Diego & spent Friday there. We went to the San Diego Zoo, which was nice & had some different things, but was $55 for just Braylen & I (Corby & Tucker were free) & the STL Zoo is as nice & free. So, we enjoyed the zoo even though it was cool & rainy. After the zoo, we grabbed some lunch & headed back to the hotel for naps all around. We walked to the harbor after naps & took a tour of the Maritime Museum. There were 4 boats we got to tour. The Star of India, The Surprise (the boat from the movie Master & Commander), a Russian sub & a steam ferry boat. The boys love the boats & enjoyed exploring everything they could. After the boats, we ate at a restaurant on a pier in the harbor. I had the best clam chowder I've ever had & the boys enjoyed fish & chips right on the water. We decided to come home Saturday morning since it was cool (50 degrees) & rainy instead of going to the beach. We'll have to save that & Sea World for another trip. When I put Tucker in the car that morning, it looked like he had a rash on his cheek & neck. By the time we got home, it was on his belly, chest & back too. I took him into the ER that evening to get it checked out & it turns out it is a viral rash, but he has an ear infection too. That's his 3rd one since January. We have a follow up appt the first of May & may have to see an ENT. I hate for him to have tubes, but I hate for him to continue to have ear infections even more. So, our Easter was a quiet one at home because of his rash (he probably would have gotten kicked out of the nursery). We had a nice little trip & were very happy to catch up with one of our favorite couples. We are about to head to small group, time to get the boys ready.
