Kincaid was diagnosed with a double ear infection a few weeks ago...he had a runny nose which progressed to a cough & in the Carlson house, that equals an ear infection. So, he started on Amoxicillin & finished his script & didn't seem any better. He was cutting about 10 teeth at the same time & 2 molars popped through, so I gave it a few days & took him in for a follow up about 3 weeks after his first appt. He has a new/still has a double ear infection. Wonderful! I'm hoping he follows Braylen's lead & grows out of this instead of following Tucker's example. He is now on Augmentin which is notorious for leaving baby butts raw & bleeding, at least in our house. So far, so good...no crazy diapers after 4 days on the med. Hopefully, the next 6 days follow suit. Anyway, that's the deal on his ears.
Kincaid also had a Gastric Emptying Study done last Thursday. He drank his bottle that had radioactive particles added to it (look out Peter Parker, here comes Kincaid Carlson). Then, he had to lay still in a papous (baby straight jacket) for 90 minutes while a special video camera took pictures of his belly. The results came back & he has delayed gastric emptying. So, they want to start him on a low dose of erythromycin to speed it up. Since he's on Augmentin already, we will hold off on the new antibiotic until his ears are cleared up. He has his 12 month well baby appt next week so hopefully, he'll be have clear ears at that appt. Here is a new video (for daddy) of his newest trick...
